Honours Thesis: The Awareness of Built Environments in South East Queensland
Research Paper
Understanding the connections between Planning Policy, the Built Environment and Mental Health Outcomes.
This research will allow for better understanding of how our society interacts with their surrounding environment.
"In the academic literature, it is widely recognised and accepted that public green spaces encourage physical activity and alleviate mental health symptoms (Jackson 2003, Wolch, Byrne et al. 2014). But limited attention has been given to whether built environments may worsen mental health, and to the specific aspects of towns and cities that do so. If green spaces alleviate mental health symptoms, then is the converse also true? Do cities with limited green space exacerbate mental health problems?"

An Institutional Analysis of Koala's in Planning
Natural Resource Management
Understanding the opportunities, risks and threats of Koala management in East Coomera
"With the progression of anthropogenic activity, urbanisation and development in East Coomera have increased pressures on native flora and fauna species – particularly koalas or those identified as ‘r-selection’ species. Vegetation loss and land clearing have increased the various causes for koala deaths within the urban footprint; with direct land clearing casualties, the increase in disease, dog attacks and road incidences (Craig et al. 2013) – exacerbating the number of koala death cases and causes annually."
